Being Salt Dance Cohorts

Welcome to your own dance small group. A 5-week class series focused on researching how you personally connect with God through dance, and how He wants to connect with you!

Be led. Get tools. Don’t dance alone.

Be Led.

Whether you are a leader who is constantly pouring out and spurring others on, or someone who is in an isolated space with not much encouragement to dance, or a dancer who is constantly busy with the art-form and little time for connection to God, being led in a movement prayer can be the difference between withering on the vine or flourishing.

Every week of the Cohort will contain a lengthy movement meditation based on a theme. This looks like turning on your computer and dancing in your room as you follow along through guided movement prompts and heart activations. This month’s movement theme is The Lord’s [Dance] Prayer.

You don't have to have all the answers. You don't have to come up with the plan. You just get to show up and make yourself available.

Get Tools.

You'd be amazed at how complicated dancers can make their connection to God through dance. Getting tools has been the ticket for members to uncomplicate their relationship with dance, get unstuck, and push past fear.

Simple, repeatable tools that you can engage with at any moment empowers you to sow into this point of connection, instead of letting the gift God has given you become more and more foreign.

My friend Lisa (mother of 3 and leads a local dance group at her church) kept saying, "I can't believe how easy it is!"

Don’t Dance Alone.

Consider this your “dance small group”. A group of women who will link arms, hold space, and champion you in your journey towards meeting God in your movement.

Each Cohort is no more than 7 women and there is always time for sharing, debriefing, and prayer ministry at the end of every session.

The overwhelming feedback received from these cohorts is the value of journeying with others. Quite possibly the most simple element to the cohorts, it is also the most profound. Partner with other people who “get it”, share stories, be covered during vulnerable moments, make connections, and be revived in your dance journey.

    • Those who are leaders or dance professionals. You need time to come back to your first love or get fresh insight into God's thoughts for your dance.

    • Those who used to dance but don't feel like they can call themselves "dancers" anymore. You need a step to get reintroduced to movement and God's purposes for your dance.

    • Those who are in the thick of it with motherhood/business/job! You need time to recalibrate and understand how your dance-gift fits into your life.

  • Nope! These are not technique classes. The dance portion of these sessions are guided movement meditations with an easy-to-follow, improvisation-based flow, with heart activations throughout the sequence. It is a combination of moving and talking to the Lord - helping you engage with God in your body, soul, and spirit.

  • Yes! However, the theme and material may change. This exact cohort will not go on indefinitely, though the structure will be replicated for future cohorts. If you feel pulled to engage with this cohort's theme then don't wait for a future date - the content may change.

  • Missing 1 class will still give you a very full and rich experience of the cohort. If you know that you will have to miss more than 1 class then I'd advise you to not sign up and wait until next time. Please note that there are no recordings of the weekly sessions. This is to ensure a level of commitment from each member and to foster depth and safety within the group.

  • You do not need a big space, but having some space is helpful (think an open kitchen or living room vs a tiny bathroom). More importantly, you need a space that is private and where you will be uninterrupted!

  • You need a strong wifi connection to ensure that you're able to follow along through the class in peace and without worry.
